Kuhn Rikon 6-Piece Duromatic Duo Pressure Cooker Set Review

Kuhn Rikon 6-Piece Duromatic Duo Pressure Cooker Set

We tried so many pressure cookers over the years as Indian Cooking demands heavy use of pressure cooking for making lentil soups and curries. We even tried few models from India but none could last more than a few years. Either they have problems with safety valves, handles, or they would become loose too often that requires tightenening of handles. If they last well, they were too bulky and takes almost forever to open and close the lid. Most annoying of all, they all make crazy sound that scares both my kids.
Kuhn Rikon pressure cookers sure have expensive prices but once you see them and feel them, you will find every reason to agree that they are well worth the price. This particular 2 set model is so lovely that my wife decided to get rid of most of her cookware as they both compliment each other so well. They can be used for almost everything we cook for our daily needs. The lids are interchangeable. This makes it so convenient to pressure cook veggies and lentils and then continue to use it with glass lid to make the final curry without having to transfer the cooked veggies and lentils to another cookware to make the curry. You can cook meat much faster and tastier without having to marinate for long.
The small one is so convenient if you have small babies and would like to feed them fresh boiled veggies, rice, or lentils. It saves lot of cooking time and the cook book that comes with it is wonderful. It gives you so many nice and simple receipes for everyone.
Couple of our guests got so impressed with this that they bought it right away from Amazon.com without waiting to get an incredible deal for it in their Amazon.com GoldBox like I did.

Fagor Duo Combi 5-Piece Pressure Cooker Set Review

Fagor Duo Combi 5-Piece Pressure Cooker Set

Fagor is the least expensive brand that I am aware of which also has the 'modern' features desirable in pressure cookers. To learn more about pressure cookers and what is desirable go to missvickie.com (a non-commercial site devoted to pressure cooker enthusiasts.) Some of these features deal with safety, e.g. you don't have to worry about plugging the steam escape with Fagor. Fagor cookers also reach a pressure of 15psi (which is important.) Unless a brand advertises that they do reach 15psi, assume that they don't. I suggest getting an extra gasket when you buy the item as you will need one at one point (they don't last forever). I must also compliment the company on its service. I bought this item, and sent in a rebate form (for a free stock pot). They sent me a nice paella pan by mistake. I was satisfied, however I called them to make sure that there was no mistake. They answered the phone right away (without the common maze of annoyingly slow and complex menu options.) The woman I talked to was very personable. This woman checked on what happened, called me back, and told me that they would also send the stock pot to me, and for me to go ahead and keep the paella pan. I will update this if needed as time goes on, as I have more experience using this item.

Fagor 8-Quart Stainless-Steel Pressure Cooker with Steamer Basket Review

Fagor 8-Quart Stainless-Steel Pressure Cooker with Steamer Basket

I use to own an electric pressure cooker, and after many scorched meals, decided to try a stove-top model. It was the best move I could have made! 18/10 stainless, surrounding aluminum on the bottom has kept every meal scorch-free. I feel completely safe using this pressure cooker. It locks easily, and the dial indicating if the pot is at pressure and if it is at high or low pressure is fool-proof. There is nothing complicated about using this pressure cooker. I just can't say enough about this pot. I have cooked professionally, and I have cooked for many years. I would not be exaggerating if I told you that this is the best-loved piece of cookware that I own. Fagor has produced an outstanding product.

Pressure cookers are gaining momentum as the new healthy, time-saving, and energy-saving way to prepare food. While not a new method, the technology has certainly been transformed over the years to be easier and safer than ever. Constructed from 18/10 stainless steel for long-lasting durability, this 8-quart pressure cooker makes it possible to save up to 70 percent of the time and energy traditionally used in cooking rice, meat, and vegetables. The cooker's lid offers a long handle made of black heat-resistant plastic for comfortable use. A safety-lock handle, visual pressure indicator, and an automatic pressure-release setting ensure the lid won't come off unintentionally. For added convenience, the cooker provides a handy basket insert, complete with legs and a loop handle--great for draining pasta or steaming vegetables. Dishwasher-safe parts make cleanup a snap, and an instruction manual and recipe book come included. Designed for use on all heat sources, the pressure cooker measures approximately 17-1/5 by 11 by 10 inches and carries a 10-year warranty.

Fagor 9-inch Silicon Gasket Review

Fagor 9-inch Silicon Gasket
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The problem with many pressure cookers is the rubber gaskets get hard, and then the cookers won't seal. The new one from Fagor is silicone, so it should last about forever. The original gasket was rubber, not silicone, so this is an improvement.

A rubber gasket's primary purpose is to create a constant tight seal. Over time a gasket can dry out and lose its elasticity. If you notice this happening, replace the gasket immediately. A worn out gasket can lead to steam not building up, or worse, escaping from your cooker.

The quality of these All American canners are absolutely top of the line and easy to work with. Once purchased, you have a canner for life. No gasket seals to be replacing. Wonderful. The high heat generated by a pressure cooker can kill more bacteria than a regular hot water bath, making this pressure cooker the ideal tool for canning vegetables and non-acid fruit. All-American's 30-quart pressure cooker/canner holds up to 19 pint jars or 14 quart jars. Only All-American pressure cookers/canners feature an exclusive, precision-machined "metal-to-metal" sealing system. Clamping locks align the cover to the base, forming a steam-tight seal. This means no gaskets to crack, burn, replace, and clean. At the same time, the metal-to-metal seal permits venting under unusual pressure conditions, making the seal safer than conventional rubber or composition gasket cookers.
Crafted of the finest hand-cast aluminum, this durable cooker/canner features a stay-cool Bakelite top handle, geared steam gauge, automatic overpressure release, and pressure regulator weight with settings of 5 psi, 10 psi, and 15 psi. The attractive satin finish is smooth and easy to clean. Double thick edges provide added protection on points of heaviest wear. The total measurements are 19 inches high with a 12-1/4-inch inside diameter. All-American pressure cookers are made in the USA. This cooker/canner is not suitable for glass or flat top ranges.
