(More customer reviews)Hey I read a lot of reviews here but never have posted one, but Chopper's review is so baseless that it isn't fair to this great little start up company (~ 10 yrs old) out of Homer, LA.
The quality build of this product is a testimony in and of itself to R & V Works. We have been doing neighborhood fish frys up on the White River for a few years now with this 4 gal cooker. Results are always excellent. The secret to this cooker is that the burner is positioned about 6" above the bottom of the cooker. You're cooking temperature of the oil in the baskets can be your normal 350 degrees +/- but the bottom oil temperature never exceeds 120 degrees. Other than excellent construction, this is the key to this cooker's success. The batter, cornmeal, etc. that falls off your food falls to the bottom of the cooker where the temperature is relatively cool. Thus your oil never burns! The company claims a 70% reduction in oil usage with this cooker which will help you reimburse your cost for such a quality cooker. You can reuse this oil many times (i.e. 25-30) before needing to change out the oil. The oil may then start to taste a little old, but it will never taste burnt! The food continues to taste great. Also the oil temperature in this cooker is very easy to maintain.
Go check out there website or give them a call. You won't talk to an computerized answering machine - I guarantee you! I have had a couple of conversations with them trying to 'narrow down' my choice of a cooker that would be best for me. I feel confident that this company will take care of you if you ever did have a problem that needed to be addressed.
Although I can use the 'neighborhood cooker' whenever I wish, I am putting this on the top of my Christmas list this year so I can bring it back to my home town and show my friends how to do a fish fry:)_
